Wall of Crosses

A commission of 14 carved and constructed wooden crosses on a 12'X 20' gently curved wall.

The Cross stands out as the dominant visual image in the Christian church. When asked to be part of the design team for a church fellowship building I decided to create a series of crosses which became for me a personal narrative.

We all hunger to know God. This crudely fashioned bowl represents our emptiness without God.

We come to a place in our lives where all we have to do is turn the corner to see God.

This rather formal looking cross has the beauty of the ages and the polish of the new. With the gothic arches protecting it, this symbol of the Good Life will endure forever.

The light of God’s love shines through the kitchen window of our soul if only we have eyes to see it.

This cross represents the band of life that is held together by the strength of God.

The theme of fishing is frequently used in the Bible. This fishing cross and the ICHTHUS fish is to remind us of the Fisher of Men.

The best of Christianity is a blending of the old and the new. The texture of the Church is formed through fellowship with one another.

This unique cross stands alone, proudly perched on a simple stand. Small sheets of copper connected together are like united Christians embracing the cross.

Within the walls of the established church the power of the cross spreads out beyond its simple form.
